Coaching Experience:
Coach Victory has been teaching and coaching swimming for over 10 years with Santa Clara Swim Club. Before joining SCSC, he coached the Evergreen Valley High School cross country team, leading the program to a 3-rd place finish at the CCS Championships.
He also spent three years coaching and instructing at Saratoga Star Swim ClubC, where he worked with swimmers of all ages and skill levels an
d had the opportunity to shadow and learn from former Olympic Champion and world record holder Lín Lì.

 

Athletic & Professional Background:
Victory’s experience spans both swimming and cross country, giving him a unique perspective on endurance, skill development, and long-term athletic growth. His background working across multiple sports and coaching environments has shaped his adaptable, athlete-centered approach on deck.

Coaching Philosophy:
Coach Victory is passionate about helping swimmers develop a love for the sport while also feeling accomplished in multiple areas of life. His goal is to make swimming not just a competitive pursuit, but a lifelong activity that athletes enjoy and return to long after their competitive careers end.

Favorite Part About Coaching at Santa Clara Swim Club:
Coach Victory enjoys collaborating with the dedicated SCSC coaching staff and guiding swimmers as they develop a genuine passion for swimming while striving for excellence both in and out of the water.

Favorite Stroke / Event:
Medley races and relays

Hobbies & Interests Outside of Swimming:
Victory loves trying new foods and restuarants and is always on the hunt for the next great place to eat.

Fun Fact:
Coach Victory loves shopping for new clothes.

Coaching Experience:
Alys has helped train swimmers and groups that have gone on to compete at Age Group Championships, Far Western Championships, and Western Zone meets. Her coaching approach is shaped by both her lifelong involvement in the sport and her deep roots within Santa Clara Swim Club.

Athletic Background:
Alys began swimming at the age of 6 and became a competitive swimmer by age 9. She was trained and mentored by longtime SCSC coaches Coach Luba and Coach Dave, experiences that strongly influenced her development as both an athlete and a coach.She continued her swimming career at the collegiate level, competing for Lewis & Clark College in Portland, Oregon (NCAA Division III). During her time at LC, Alys placed top 8 in the 1650 freestyle and top 16 in the 500 freestyle.

Coaching Philosophy:
Alys believes that having teammates and friends who push one another forward makes the training process both fun and rewarding. She emphasizes a supportive team environment where swimmers grow together while working toward their individual and collective goals.

Favorite Part About Coaching at Santa Clara Swim Club:
Alys has spent the majority of her life with Santa Clara Swim Club and credits the program for supporting her through both highs and lows. Coaching at SCSC allows her to pay it forward and give back to the club that helped shape who she is today.

Freestyle and Breaststroke

Hobbies & Interests Outside of Swimming:
Alys loves arts&crafts—anything creative is her jam.

Fun Fact:
Alys lived in South Korea for a year teaching English. While challenging, it was an incredibly fun and rewarding experience. She is currently in school pursuing a career as a High School teacher.
